The Importance of Clean Commercial Washrooms
Installing a quality and modern commercial washroom on your property will benefit your business in various ways, and it’s not all cosmetic. So, if you are trying to decide if now is the right time to renovate your public space, learning these additional benefits may help you in your decision-making.
Visitor Satisfaction
A modern commercial washroom will delight visitors to your premises and increase the likelihood of return visits. This is essential for any commercial property reliant on profit and foot traffic. Retail locations, restaurants and leisure spots especially will need to create a clean and welcoming space throughout to entice customers back again and again.
Dated washrooms and poor conditions will deter customers from visiting your commercial premises and may even cause word of mouth to spread unofficial reviews and representation of your business.
Brand Image
The state of your commercial washroom is essential for maintaining brand quality and expectations throughout the entire building for a cohesive atmosphere. Commercial washrooms are designed with the expectation of heavy foot traffic, and so it is your opportunity to maintain and showcase branding even in the washroom.
Energy Efficiency
Not only is the cosmetic improvement of your commercial washroom on offer, but you can also enjoy a more efficient space. Modern commercial washrooms from Bano can save money business and cater to visitors who value sustainability. Commercial washrooms should feature sensor-activated accessories, such as taps, soap dispensers and hand dryers that limit taps being left on and similar.
This is also a great opportunity to improve the hygiene of your commercial washroom and keep it a cleaner, well-maintained space for your business.

A standard WC in a commercial setting should measure 800mm wide with a depth of 1500mm. This includes an internal turning circle of 450mm for users to be able to manoeuvre inside safely. However, the minimum size required for ambulant and wheelchair-accessible WC cubicles is much larger.
An ambulant toilet has the same depth requirements as a standard cubicle of 1500mm, but the required width is larger, with 850mm necessary. A wheelchair-accessible toilet cubicle must have an outward-facing door and be 1210mm wide.

Other than the minimum size requirements for WCs, as mentioned above, there are more building regulations in the UK for commercial washrooms. These include the ambulant toilet rule, which states one ambulant toilet cubicle be available in every washroom. This means that even if there is only one cubicle in a WC, it must be an ambulant cubicle. Similarly, grab handles, and accessible wash basins must be installed.
Other legal requirements for a commercial washroom include wash basins with hot and cold running water that are large enough to wash hands and forearms comfortably. Hand soap, toilet paper and sanitary bins must also be provided.

In accordance with the Equality Act 2010, an employer must make reasonable adjustments to improve accessibility for disabled employees in a commercial setting. It is in place to ensure a disabled person has the same access as those non-disabled to what is on site. For new buildings, you must adhere to Document-M of Building Regulations, which states that disabled people and those who use a wheelchair, in particular, must have unimpeded access through the property, including washroom facilities.
